Easy to make and fun to decorate, these cake pops will be a hit with kids and adults alike!

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  •  1 box vanilla or chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  •  ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  •  ½ cup powdered sugar
  •  1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Coating & Decoration:

  •  2 cups candy melts (red, green, and white)
  •  2 tbsp vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother coating)
  •  Assorted holiday sprinkles
  •  Lollipop sticks

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Cake:

  • Bake the cake as per the package instructions. Let it cool completely.

2️⃣ Make the Cake Pop Mixture:

  • Crumble the cake into fine crumbs using your hands or a food processor.
  • In a bowl, mix cake crumbs with softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until a dough-like consistency forms.

3️⃣ Form Cake Balls:

  • Roll the mixture into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
  • Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for 20 minutes.

4️⃣ Prepare the Coating:

  • Melt the candy melts in separate bowls according to package instructions. If too thick, add vegetable shortening to thin it out.

5️⃣ Assemble the Cake Pops:

  • Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into melted candy, then insert it into a cake ball. Let it set for a few minutes.
  • Dip the entire cake pop into the melted candy coating, gently tapping off the excess.

6️⃣ Decorate & Set:

  • Quickly add holiday sprinkles before the coating hardens.
  • Insert the pops into a foam block or stand to dry completely.

Notes

  • To prevent cracking, let cake balls come to room temperature before dipping.
  • Use high-quality candy melts for a smoother coating.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
