Description

These Pecan Pie Cake Balls combine the rich, nutty flavors of classic pecan pie with the soft, moist texture of cake. Coated in a smooth chocolate or white chocolate shell, these bite-sized treats are perfect for holiday gatherings or as a delightful sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups vanilla or butter cake, crumbled
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 12 ounces white or dark chocolate, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil (optional, for thinning chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pecan Filling: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, melted butter, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until smooth and thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and fold in chopped pecans. Let the mixture cool completely.
  2. Combine with Cake: In a large bowl, mix the cooled pecan filling with crumbled cake and softened cream cheese until well combined.
  3. Shape the Balls: Roll the mixture into small balls, about one inch in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  4. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Stir in vegetable oil if needed for a thinner consistency.
  5. Coat the Cake Balls: Dip each chilled cake ball into the melted chocolate using a fork or dipping tool. Tap off excess chocolate and place the coated ball back onto the parchment paper.
  6. Set and Serve: Let the chocolate coating set at room temperature or refrigerate for faster results. Once firm, serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • Store cake balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
  • Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor or white chocolate for a sweeter contrast.
  • For added decoration, drizzle with extra melted chocolate or sprinkle with crushed pecans before the coating sets.
